Flatwoods

We would love to welcome you to the Flatwoods family or visit with you. We want to get to know you, so if you want to share something or have any questions that aren’t addressed here, be sure and let us know.

      Adult Ministries:

Adults have a variety of opportunities for learning and growth throughout the week. These range from parenting classes that draw on Biblical values to reinforce strong principles in each other, to small groups, to classes. Additional activities provide time for fellowship throughout the week. Seniors remain active in “Live Wires,” with frequent trips and weekly times of singing and praise. Young couples and single adults also grow together with the outreach and growth in the Word.

Pastor Wayne Harper leads in a time of teaching and worship on Sundays, accompanied by praise in music and an array of Sunday School classes to delve into Scripture.

Several discreet outreach programs focus on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of members and local individuals. The “shut-ins,” or members who are unable to attend church for health reasons, are provided with meals and sermon recordings once a month. Our deacons manage a benevolence ministry to provide for church members in need, and others with legitimate ailing circumstances.

     Youth (See Teen Youth Page):

Flatwoods keeps an emphasis on individual families in the congregation, but also provides activities especially geared toward young people. Teenagers are challenged to sharpen themselves into young men and women molded in the image of Christ by youth director Joey Cook-- and each other. A variety of conferences, food, fun, volleyball, and randomness pale in comparison to the emphasis on personal spiritual growth and love demonstrated in life. A student led band leads worship in music, and the lessons are Biblically grounded to be life focused.

Younger students are challenged to let Christ permeate their lives by Children’s Church, an assembly that focuses on developing young minds with the message of the Lord. Wednesday Night is a prime time event for elementary and middle schoolers as well, providing a variety of lessons, food and activities with peers.

From nursery to college, the focus of youth ministry is the same as any other--to draw people to the gospel of Christ and message of the Word.

     Missions:

            Flatwoods’ belief in the Great
Commission and need to spread the
gospel leads to a focus on worldwide
missions. In addition to sup-
porting many missionaries worldwide, Flatwoods has several church members who have surrendered to full time mission work.

Dr. Joe Morell and his wife Jessie, who have been missionaries to Lithuania, Latvia and the Baltic region since 1997, have seen their ministry expand recently. God has called them to work toward establishing Bible Institutes to train local Christian leaders worldwide, and develop the Missionary Training Ministry, a modular-based class to share Biblical and practical principles with missionaries leaving for the field.

Bro. Keith Chamberlain, who accepted Christ in the prison system, is now a full-time minister to prisoners. He travels around the state sharing Christ with inmates, preaching, organizing prison services, and developing others to serve in their areas.Contact.htmlYouth.htmlhttp://www.missionarytrainingministry.com/shapeimage_1_link_0shapeimage_1_link_1shapeimage_1_link_2
